Who is this Mason Joe anyway?
It all started when...
Mason Joe Coffee is a small batch artisan coffee roaster based in the Appalachian Mountains of East Tennessee. Seven years ago, the owner Rich Rogers, saw the need for high quality locally roasted coffee where freshness, flavor, sustainability, and individuality were the guidelines that ruled the roasting process.
So he began designing and building his own small batch roaster and after months of experimentation and trial batches, Mason Joe Coffee was born.
We seek out the finest green coffee from around the world, always looking for coffee growers who are sensitive to the environment, who have efficient and sustainable farming practices, and are those who care about the quality of the coffee they grow. We choose beans that, once roasted, offer flavor profiles that exceed the taste of most of the other “gourmet coffees” on the market today. All of our coffees are single origin and come from the same producer or region and are roasted weekly to keep the coffee as fresh as possible.
Over the past 5 years, we have also perfected our cold brew coffee, which is also produced from our freshly roasted, single origin coffees.
A unique feature of our product is how we package our beans and cold brew. In order to maintain the freshest beans possible, we package our beans in airtight mason jars. Thus the name “Mason Joe”…
In 2016, we decided to venture into the food truck world and converted a vintage camper into a mobile coffee trailer. Effectively, this trailer is a full service 3rd wave coffee shop offering a full range of espresso based drinks, pour over coffee, cold brewed iced coffee, and a variety of non-coffee drinks such as teas, smoothies, frozen lemonade, and Italian sodas.
In February 2019, we opened a local shop in downtown Elizabethton, TN at 520 E Elk Avenue (Building 520) offering the same full range of coffee and drinks as our mobile shop. Our vision for the downtown shop is to create a warm inviting atmosphere in the evening hours for those seeking a place to relax, have some coffee, and enjoy some local music. More on that dream coming later!
